Are Real Estate Agents Obsolete?
I met a number of estate agents and brokers in recent months and I am not surprised to see social media as a waste of time. Do not get me wrong, I found a few that need to get it, assumed the risk and configuration of the virtual office, and even open accounts with Facebook and Twitter. Some use these social networks, and some say only that they have used effectively here in Canada, my research shows that most do not practice what it preaches.
It makes recommendations and suggests radical approaches, such as the prospect of an agent and wasted an enormous amount of time with tire-kickers to open events. You look at me with puppy dog eyes and say they could not do it, I do not know how this sounds like too much work. I think it is more difficult way of doing things now, but is taken! If you are an agent or broker who has been in the industry for over 10 years, you may have more difficulty making a paradigm shift. I’m not saying they can not, or not in a position, but I say if you do not, life can be very helpful if the new technology and production of intelligent newcomers to a high level, with very different types of stress. How will you compete and survive?
Let me give an example of something I could do and have fun. I will work on the old school traditional research officer, then the expert new agent.
Old School Officer
The representative of the old school, sitting on the phone rounding up the prospects for hours and hours, then 4 or 5 feet in front of the residence, and even some public events over two weekends in a row. Much time and effort is devoted to such sales, the hard work is important, but the state of the art, why is this? The organization and worried about how no-show or, worse yet, as sure to try to make sure they have a perspective. How to disconnect from the aircraft and buildings, and the list continues.
